Photography and faith

Last week I stepped out in faith. I am starting my photography business full time. I have wanted to do this for a long time but was insecure and worried that I might fail. I had a dream a while back that I should really pursue this, but I doubted.

Doubt is an awful thing. I don’t know why I do that, why I doubt. After all I serve a God of miracles. A God whose power is above any of this world and who will never fail me. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
This week I have been holding onto this quote:

I’m stepping out in faith, trusting God to make this happen. But I’m also doing my part. I’ve updated my face book page, made coupons, business cards’, flyers and currently I’m busy with my price list. And everything was done by Sunday last week. So I know this means business. If you do what you can with what you have God will ultimately trust you with more.

But if you sit back and wait for the sky to fall in your lap it’s very likely it will never happen.

I have also neglected my WordPress page way too long.
Funny how when doubt starts creeping in negativity floods your mind and you start self doubting what you know you should do. Asking yourself if what you’re doing is making a difference anyway, if you’re good enough? We will never be good enough, but you know what? God doesn’t use the perfect people. He uses the messed up, broken and the people with mistakes.

Why you may ask? Well, how would you be able to help someone in a certain situation if you’ve never been through it yourself?

If God calls you to do something He will equip you. He will never call you or abandon you. Satan is a liar and wants us to believe we are nothing, that we cannot do anything when were on our own.

But the truth is we’re not alone. We have God by our side every moment of every day.

Like David said: Psalm 18:2 New Living Translation
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. Romans 8:31 (NIV) What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

I can post scripture upon scripture, but that would mean nothing. We have to step out in faith and trust our Loving Almighty God to rescue us, carry us and lead us home.

Today I challenge you to step out in faith and trust God with all you have. He will not let you down.

Living by faith, with hope, for love, in grace…

When you get angry…

Do not sin!!!

Mark 8:36 What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?

When words come from my mouth that hurt in anger it is like a poison. I feel sick to my stomach that those words came from me. What is in my heart if I use these words so carelessly? The words I speak sickens me… And the words I speak do not just injure others, but it feels like a knife being twisted in my stomach, over and over… Even when I say them softly behind your back it burns me to my core… And it saddens me, I escape to my bedroom where I want to feel safe, where I want to pray and where I spill my heart to God.

Psalm 4:4 NIV Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent

And I am silent, because I feel like I have disappointed you my God once again… My heart is aching and I need You, so much more of You..

The Word of God tells us clearly that we should not sin when we get angry. We as children of our Papa in heaven do get angry. All human beings have that emotion. We are easily angered, aggravated and then we take the next step…

Ephesians 4:26a NIV “In your anger do not sin.”
The Word cautions us to not sin when we get angry. Knowing that we may get angry makes it a little easier, but trying not to explode when you’re angry, that is a different challenge. So what is a sin when you get angry?

Well, the Word continues saying…

Ephesians 4:26b-27 NIV Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. And do not give the devil a foothold.

And the way for satan to get a foothold is when you give way to your anger.

Ephesians 4:29-30 continues… 29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with any form of malice.

So, in anger you brawl, slander and seek malice.. which in turn makes you bitter… raging and even more angry inside. Which in turn gives you another few words to just throw in there for the heck of it. And then? You sadden the Holy Spirit!!!

I know this might sound harsh but it s so true. We are all human and we fall short of the glory of God. And we sin, even in anger…

My prayer for you is:

Dear God, I pray that you will forgive me when I anger. Please place a guard over my mouth that I will not sin in those times. That I will live for you and only you. That my sinful nature will not take over, but that your Holy Spirit that resides in me will take over and let me be who I was born to be. A child of God living for His glory. In Jesus name I pray, with love and much thanksgiving. Amen.

If you would like to share what angers you or what anger you are battling with leave a comment or send me an e-mail so that I can pray with you for whatever it is you are angry about. My e-mail address is

My shield!!!

Genesis 15:1 The word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

– A shield in a piece of armor.
– It was designed as a defense mechanism.
– It was used to intercept attacks, either by stopping them or by redirecting them.
– To this day shields are still used. You may think that they are not and in the historical warfare situation they are not used, but when people start rioting, you still see the police use this tool en mass.
– Shields can take on many shapes and sizes but their purpose and use remains unchanged.
– A shield is a protective barrier.
– It is something that defends or protects someone.
– Here we see God telling Abram ‘I AM YOUR SHIELD!’

– In many ways we need a shield.
– Our very own planet Earth depends on a shield to survive.
– Our own lives depend on this great unseen shield.
– The Earth is protected by an ozone layer.
– It is also called the Ozone Shield.
– It is a layer in the earth’s atmosphere that absorbs most of the UV rays from the sun.
– The truth is that there is very little ozone in the ozone layer, but it is very important.
– It absorbs and shields us from harmful UV which is harmful to all living things.
– Without this shield, life on earth as we know it would cease to exist.
– So in a very real sense we already live with a shield that God has put in place to protect us from things that could destroy us.
– Just as we need and could not live without this ozone shield, so we cannot live without the shield that God offers us.
– The Bible tells us that the enemy goes around like a roaring lion, looking to destroy each one of us.
– But God offers to be our shield.
– As He said to Abram, He says to you: ‘I AM YOUR SHIELD!’
– This promise is for you as well.
– We are part of that seed and as such we too can appropriate this great comfort to our own lives.
– As children of God we need a shield.
– There are many enemies and many things that would try to wear us down or destroy us.
– The Bible speaks of the enemy we face and it speaks of the ‘fiery darts’ that we will face.
– But God graciously undertakes to intervene and be a shield to us.

– In the Bible we see a picture of a physical hedge of protection spoken of.
– Job 1:9-10 “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.”
– Even the devil recognized that he did not have direct access to Job.
– Even he could see that God had placed a ‘hedge of protection’ around His servant Job.
– This ‘hedge of protection’ did not only protect Job as an individual, but it went further to include a shield of protection around his household. This included protection for those who lived under the same roof as him. This could include his servants and his family.
– This ‘hedge of protection’ went even further to protect his assistants, the things he owned and it seems to have included everything that fell under Job’s jurisdiction.
– Psalm 34:7 ‘The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and he delivers them.’
– Psalm 139:5  ‘You hem me in behind and before, and You lay your hand upon me.’
– Psalm 125:2  ‘As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people both now and forevermore.’
– Psalm 121:8  ‘The LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.’
– Psalm 91:9-11 ‘For you have made the LORD, my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent. For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways.’
– He holds our lives and our very breath in His hands.
– Isaiah 33:15-16 He who walks righteously and speaks with sincerity, He who rejects unjust gain And shakes his hands so that they hold no bribe; He who stops his ears from hearing about bloodshed And shuts his eyes from looking upon evil; He will dwell on the heights, His refuge will be the impregnable rock; His bread will be given him, His water will be sure.
– The very bread and water we need for the sustaining of life is part of the shield God provides in our lives.
– Psalm 33:18-19  ‘Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, on those who hope for His loving-kindness, to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine.’
– Imagine your soul being delivered from death and being kept alive in a famine.
– He is also the preserver and restorer of our souls.
– Psalm 23:3 ‘He restores my soul!’
– Psalm 97:10 ‘He preserves the souls of His saints!’
– The word preserves means to keep or to watch over the souls of His sons and daughters.
– 2 Samuel 22:31 As for God, His way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; He shields all who take refuge in Him.

– The mighty working power of God is your shield.
– 1 Peter 1:5 ‘ … who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation …’
– Don’t limit God’s power in your life.
– Don’t try to put God in a box.
– Don’t limit Him by your own limitations.
– His power can accomplish anything.
– It was by His power that the earth was created.
– It is by His power that all things are sustained.
– That includes you!
– This shield is on-going and never ending.
– It is not a shield that turns off and on at will.
– It is not here today and gone tomorrow.
– It is available at all times and in all circumstances.
– It is a perpetual shield.
– It is available throughout life, in the midst of challenges and hurdles.
– It remains constant regardless whether we are facing ‘deep waters’, ‘rivers of difficulty’ or ‘the fire of oppression’.
– Throughout life it remains and even when we pass through the valley of the shadow of death it is as real as at any other time.
– He is the rock of refuge that never fails.
– He is a shield to each one who will trust in Him.
– This shield does not just cover one area of our lives.
– The problems with shields are that they only protect you on one front.
– Our Heavenly Shield will never fail us no matter what side the problems may come from.
– Psalm 3:3  ‘You, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.’
– HE is a shield that goes right around you – even on your blind side.
– Psalm 5:12  ‘Surely, LORD, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favor as with a shield.’
– Just like with the ozone shield around the earth where there is no alternative, so it is with God, He is our only shield our only alternative.
– Every other thing that you think is a shield will fail you, but He will remain faithful.
– Human wisdom and human power cannot compare.
– He is the only sure, enduring and everlasting defense and shield to us His son and daughters.
– Psalm 7:10 ‘My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart.’

– Take refuge in Him.
– Don’t try to do it on your own.
– You are not your own best defense, He is.
– Cling to your shield.
– Enjoy the benefits of living within the benefit of your shield.
– Let thankfulness arise with your heart and soul because you have a shield and defense.
– Live with thankfulness for the fact that you have a shield.
– Don’t do anything to jeopardize the protection your shield offers.
– Live within the slipstream of your shield.
– As a child I would ride behind my father on his motorbike. I loved it and occasionally I would try and push my head out to feel the wind on my face. My father would always tell me to pull my head in. While I sat behind him I was secure and protected from the head wind and any flying object in the air. It was only years later when I got my own motorbike that I discovered that without my father as a shield I had to be careful that things did not fly into my face or eyes.
– When we live within the slipstream of the shield we can enjoy the protection He offers.
– When we decide to move out from that protection either through sin or just doing what we want to do, we expose ourselves to many forms of onslaughts, most of which have the power to destroy us.
– So live within the slipstream of Your Shield and remain there.
– John 15:7 ‘If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.’

Misty Mornings

This Morning was cold and misty. I just love the way the sun comes up through the mist. It shines brightly and if you keep your eyes on it it seems lighter around you. It is such a beautiful sight, but could be dangerous.

As we drove in the mist, it just got thicker. To a point you could only see about a meter in front of you with the car lights barely getting through it.

Isn’t faith much like that? I mean, you know where you are going you just can’t see it just yet. You have to have faith that even if you can only see the mist that God is there for you on the misty dangerous road you are travelling..

God is like the sun that lights your way, and when you you’re your eyes on him there is light in the middle of the most fearful situation. And when the mist has cleared when you can look back you can see it but youre not afraid of it because you have come into His light.

I probably don’t make sense but this weekend that past I was reminded that the more I looked at the mist (my problems) the less I was trusting God. And the more I would focus on God, the less I would see my problems.

Luke 12:34 in God’s word makes it clear. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also, it is also mentioned again in Matthew 6:21. Think about it this way. If you keep telling someone about how big your problem is, do you really trust God? If you focus on God your problem will be something you may carry, but in turn God will carry you, so that when you look back on it you will realise that when you trust God nothing is impossible. Luke 1:37 (For nothing is impossible with God.

Oh friends, I’ve been looking at my problems a lot lately, but was reminded all over again when I read “ Isaiah 58:11 (that) The lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength.” God is still my God.

I’m leaving you with a bit of bible study. Read these scriptures and be amazed how awesome our God is when we trust Him:

Psalm 3:4,9, 22:5-6, 27:1, 31:15-18, 34:18, 37:3-6, 105:4, 112:7, 118:8, 125:1-2, 141:8
Jeremiah 29:14, 32:27,
Romans 8:38-39, 10:10-12
Isaiah 26:3-4, 54:17
2 Cor 4:18
Matthew 6:27
Phil 1:6, 4:6, 4:19
1 John 5:4, 5:14-15
1 Peter 5: 7
Eph 3:20
Zechariah 4:6
Proverbs 3:5-6

Mothers Day

Thursday 15 May 2014,

I had a wonderful Mothers day the Sunday that passed. My daughter had a tummy bug and wasn’t feeling very well but still went with her dad to buy something but came home empty handed. While they went shopping my sister in law and I took my mom out for breakfast. And we had a great time. I got to bond with baby Junior and she and my mom were chatting.

My daughter had a tummy bug since Thursday and felt bad for not getting me anything, but I reassured her that she and her brother were the best gifts I could ever have asked for.

Psalm 127:3 Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him.

Then she got creative. Just before bed (she looked pale and I could see she wasn’t feeling well) she still wanted to do something special. She had written me a song and then she sang it to me.

I was overwhelmed. That was a wonderful gift. Its times like those that I realize just how blessed I truly am. Its times like those that I wish I were a better mama. I want to make more memories like those. They are so precious. But its also at times like those that I get to see the beautiful gift God has blessed me with.
Our children are a blessing and we should make memories to treasure.

They grow up so fast and before we know it they’re all grown up and out of the house.

For all the mama’s out there, cherish those little feet. They will always be your baby, but the little bundle will grown and soon will be out of your lap, but always in your heart.

Wishing all mama’s a belated Mothers Day.

Be blessed!

What happened…

Wednesday 14 May 2014,

So yesterday I mentioned I want to be more honest and share the trials in life, just so you know that there are other people who’ve maybe gone through the same problems you have and have made it through, not by my own power but by the strength God has given me.

It’s not always easy, as I’m sure you all know. But when you trust God it’s just so worth it.

The move went well. Although I’m not even half way unpacked I am here and taking it one day at a time. There is so much work to do and I don’t seem to be getting anywhere. There is so much to repair, fill, paint and fix. But I know when its all done it would have been worth the wait.

The day I moved back to Talton I almost decided to return to Kimberley. Let me tell you a bit of what happened…

I got Home and my mom was happy to see me. When my dad got home he greeted me half heartedly. Like he wasn’t even happy to see me at all. That hurt more than I can describe. It felt like he didn’t really want me here. In between he made comments on everything I did or didn’t do. He made me feel inadequate. I felt lost, alone and like I’ve made a mistake in moving back. I started doubting that what I had thought was right, was a huge mistake.

Have you ever felt like that? Have you ever felt you could run away? But there is just no place to run to. That no matter where you went or did, you never fit in? Where to?

So here I am sharing truthfully: My whole life I’ve felt that way. I felt like running but there was no place to go. When I was little I kept praying I could leave home. Home wasn’t a place I felt happy. I always felt like I had to prove my worth. (More about that at a later stage.)

My daughter was crying all the time in the prior weeks that passed because my dad (her grandad) doesn’t allow animals in the house and because of her hormones changing (she is in her teens).

She was used to Cloe sleeping on her bed with her. Now Cloe and buddy was left outside. That in turn got my husband uptight and moody and fighting with me. He also felt that my decision was a mistake.

Oh I wanted to run, but didn’t have anywhere to turn to. We haven’t been getting along and the tension just went up a notch. I’ve always had to fight my own battles and work things out for myself and have been feeling hopeless.

I read this piece in a newsletter by Marianne Williamson, which said: I’ve been battling, more than I thought I would. And I’ve been thinking, more than I should. I am reminded of my past, the brokenness, the hurt, betrayal and ignorance. But I know the One who holds my future.

There are so many things we keep to ourselves, afraid others would judge us if we said anything. Afraid.. What is afraid? I used to think my greatest fear was inadequacy. I believed these words for a very long time. You could never do that. You aren’t good enough. You cannot make a difference. You will fail.

But the day I said yes to something bigger than my capability, I discovered being inadequate -not having all the answers, not being successful, not being enough these weren’t my deepest fears. My deepest fear was rooted in the unleashing of my yes. I realized the unbelievable, unspeakable power of that little word would thrust me into an unknown world of faith-walking and desperation for Jesus.

And that terrified me.
Because I’m still inadequate. No matter what I do, what I learn, there’s always something I don’t know.  We cannot rescue or save or even get our kids to listen half the time. How dare we have the audacity to help another human being?

I live in that place. “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Those words were as if it were my own. It was as if she was taking my words and putting it onto paper. She definitely captured all I wanted to say, and all that was in my heart.

I would really like to be honest on my blogs, share my heart, my life, my trials, my past, my faith and my journey in life… even when I fail I want to share it knowingly.

I want to make a difference. And motivate you by reminding you that even with all of your faults. God loves you….

No matter what, He will forgive you.

1 John 1:9 reads: But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and …. He grants repentance, He gives the remission of sin; in doing of which He is ….

Ezekiel 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean: …

I pray that the blood of Jesus will wash us once again in our attempt to plead His forgiveness in our lives and for you to know His powerful love.

Be blessed!

Getting back to writing..

Tuesday 13 May 2014,

I have so many things I want to share. Where should I begin? I haven’t been on here in a while with the move being a strain. I thought the move would be easy, but it wasn’t. It was really hard and so many things have been running through my mind.

So I haven’t been on here in a while. The move went fairly well and things are slowly falling into place. Slowly, actually meaning slower than I would have liked, but moving like a snail counts for something, right?

Where to begin?

When I started this blog I wanted it to be something that would help and encourage people. Something that people would be able to relate to.

Some days I feel alone and like I’m making no difference, especially on my blog. I talk about things and how I handle them. But I’m not perfect. Far from it… I make mistakes and fail. And yet, do I share those times? I need people to know they are not alone, that they’re not the only ones that feel the way they do. And sometimes I need to be reminded that I will get through it all.

That this little girl inside still trying to find her existence, asking herself where do I fit in? That she doesn’t have to fit it. That she was born to stand out. That she was meant to make a difference.

At times like these I get messages which I believe is how God speaks to me.

I read this beautiful email from Ryan Snow, it encouraged me with scripture and with the word of God.

The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field” (Matthew 13:44).

A.W. Tozer writes: God is so vastly wonderful, so utterly and completely delightful that He can, without anything other than Himself, meet and overflow the deepest demands of our total nature, mysterious and deep as that nature is.

The pursuit of JOY in God would be EASY, OBVIOUS, and something EVERY one of us would do quite naturally if it weren’t for this simple reality:  the 1,001 OTHER pursuits that crowd our hearts and move God to the sidelines in our lives.

“To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal?’ asks the Holy One.  Look up into the heavens.  Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing (Isaiah 40:25,26).

God wants to amaze us daily; we just have to take note. Be amazed again and again by His most beautiful sunsets, his greatness and power and love is shown in all the beauty around us.

A.W. Tozer writes: Faith is not a once-done act, but a continuous gaze at the heart of the Triune God.

Ryan stated “But here’s the reality: we (at least I) cannot CONSIDER God for 30 minutes and get by on that for a week. The mountain of information, noise, and inputs throughout the week will crush me if I don’t build into my life a RHYTHM and ROUTINE to stop and consider God…

To soak in God….

To consider His power…

To marinate in His grace…

So today… tomorrow… the next day… BE AMAZED!

I just love the way he put it. It was truly inspiring. He also says that we should get rid of everything that keeps you from being able to focus entirely and exclusively upon God… AND JUST sit back and watch what happens in your life!

That “Life” and it’s challenges will not go away!! But you’ll be different. What you’ll bring to those moments in life (even the super difficult ones) will be a transformed life because you’ve paused and reflected; you’ve tasted and seen the One who is incomparable and AMAZING!

Wow, that is really something to think about.

So today I want to encourage you to be strong and courageous, God is fighting your battles, all you have to do is trust Him.

Be blessed!

My challenge was…

This week has had a lot of challenges, more than most days. Yesterday, being one of them.

My week started with my kids starting at their new school. I wasn’t there to help them get ready. Mamma’s heart was aching. All I got to see was a photo of their first day. Then it was the drama with my tablet being stolen. And then yesterday, it was my daughter’s 12th birthday.

Yes, and I missed it. I couldn’t be there, she sounded happy and told me it was okay and that she understood, but my heart was aching. I couldn’t be there with her and that saddened me. I wanted to be there with every birthday she ever had.

Isn’t it funny how we feel when we are separated from our children? And yet they are meant to grow up and leave the home. The only part you have in all of this is to teach them well so they will have no regrets and live their lives to the glory of God.

It makes me wonder how God feels when we leave His presence. He must miss us even more than we miss our children. Our Father’s heart.. I cannot even begin to comprehend what He feels or doesn’t. But I know that He knows the sadness I feel.

I prayed and cried and felt sad. But He held me in those moments. He gave me inner peace and I knew that everything would be okay. Even if this mamma’s heart felt broken, He would fix it all.
1st Chronicles 16:10 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.

So when I awoke this morning I had a song in my heart. And I’m feeling a bit better because I know it’s not long when I will see them again. I’m leaving on Saturday and today’s almost done. So that leaves Friday. I am so grateful that the days went by so fast. And I am blessed to know I will be with them on Saturday.

Psalm 30:5(b) weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

Today I want to remind you that God isn’t far from you. He is as close as you want Him to be. I pray for His closeness today to be with you all, no matter what you are going through.

Never would I have imagined!!

I didn’t write yesterday. I was consumed by anger, and disappointment and frustration. I felt invaded, intentionally harmed and hurt within my heart. How could someone you know, someone you trusted do such a thing?

I’m skipping to the part when all of this happened…

I got home, and packed for a while. After which I was about to get into bed. Now my tablet is usually next to my bed in the drawer or if I’ve used it, it’s on the bedside table. So when I found time and wanted to use it, it was gone. I’ve packed everything in the drawers and left my tablet because at night when I’m relaxed or battle sleeping I do editing of the photos I have taken.

And it was gone. I phoned my husband and told him what had happened. We thought that maybe it was the lady that was working for us, or some of the people working for him as they all have access to our house. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine it could be a friend.

James 1:14 ESV
But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.

Well he (my husband) made a few calls and found out that one of our friends dropped by out of the blue (apparently made himself some coffee while waiting for my husband) but there were no cups to prove that he had made any and my husband isn’t going to be home until Sunday. And he (the friend of my husband) is not the type of person to rinse his cup. He was looking to loan money and all of a sudden he had 2000 bucks.

I don’t hate him, I’m angry at what he did. I’m angry at the fact that he has such little respect for us that he would enter our room and invade our privacy like that. Not to mention taking things that doesn’t belong to me. Knowing that it’s your friend’s house and still doing it anyway.

Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

And then I have to ask myself, what type of an example we have set for him. I mean, I talked to him about God quite a few times. Trying to get him over to the right side.

1 Timothy 4:16 ESV
Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.

But I realise it’s not a battle which I should fight. God fights those battles. We should just plant the seed. I pray that the seed we planted does someday take sprout. I pray that if it was him, he will repent. I pray that the anger I’m feeling will be turned into prayer and that I won’t curse him. That there would be something good to come from this disappointment and anger.

Job 42:10
The LORD restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the LORD increased all that Job had twofold.

I’m no saint and believe me, I am still angry… But I’m prayerfully angry… Using my thoughts and feelings to talk to God. After all, he knows my heart better than anyone. He knows me inside and out. And whatever I’m feeling.. well I’m sure it must be worse for God. I mean, its one of his children and that child disappointed him. But when I pray and declare Gods ground to be fulfilled for this person I am planting seed.

I pray God will turn their life around. I proclaim that person for Gods glory. Amen.

Dear friends,
Pray for those who harm you. It is so worth it. God can do things we can’t possibly imagine. We just have to be close to Him.

Thank yoy God for loving us all the same. Anf that your grace is big enough to save. Amen.

Walking by faith, with hope, for love, in grace…

With love always

What does it mean to Praise?

The dictionary defines praise as:
Express warm approval or admiration of:
we can’t praise Chris enough—he did a brilliant job
Express one’s respect and gratitude towards (a deity), especially in song:
we praise God for past blessings
1The expression of approval or admiration for someone or something:
the audience was full of praise for the whole production

A while ago my children and I were reading one of the Psalms of David and how he was singing praises to God about his life. About Gods love being better than life, which got me to thinking.

It is so easy to praise people for what they do to you, like, when your husband does something you’ve wanted you would say “honey youre the best” or when your children do well in whatever they do you would go “you are so clever, mama is so proud of you”.

Never thought of that as praises, huh?

Do we ever praise God like that? He gives you a new start every morning. He gives you sunlight to warm your face. He gives you flowers to enjoy by what they look and smell like. He gives you friends who encourage you. Parents who teach you, a job that pays you, food clothing… a life well lived!! Or is it?

And He gives you music! What do you do with it? Music for your lonely self or do you use the music He provides so you can praise Him. Do you?

I gave my children a challenge. To take one of their contemporary favourites and turn it into a song of praise to the King of Kings. I will let you know what they came up with… And it inspired me to write a poem so here it is:

Written by Zaskia

What can I sing
That hasn’t been sung?
What can I pray
If You know my words anyway?

I will praise You
For lighting my path
Praise You
For the green, green grass

What can I do
To prove how I love You?
What can I say
When You know my thoughts

So I will praise You
With the words of my mouth
Praise You for the sun and the clouds

All my praises are for You my king
Mighty God, ruler of everything.
My praises are to You, my King!

I love singing praises to our Papa God and my poetry is a way of giving praise. I just need some tune to it.

God is faithful, loving, kind, good, caring, gracious and everlasting. Take time and praise Him.

When it was bedtime my son came running into his sisters room yelling frantically. “There’s a big thing in my room”.

And what I found was a very large cricket. What a wonderful way of showing us just a glimpse of worship. I calmed my son by telling him that the cricket with his beautiful music also praises God. And makes music to the King of Kings. We should lead by example. My son got in his bed waiting for the cricket to make music. I was left with that beautiful thought.

What do you have that you can be thankful for. You are welcome to leave a comment on how you have praised Him for that today.

My prayer for you:

Thank you Papa, for all the wonderful blessings you add to my life daily. For loving me more than I deserve to be loved. In spite of knowing all I would do, You died for me and that is uncomprehensable. I stand in awe knowing that you love me that much. After all, You knew me before I was born. You number my days. You know how many hairs are on my head. And you made me fearfully and beautifully. I praise you for all these things. In Jesus name I pray, with love and much thanksgiving. I am forever grateful, Amen.
