We have a snake named Slither. Yea I never thought I’d have a pet snake but things change when you have children.

Daniel my precious son was afraid of spiders, insects and yes, snakes. Until he visited a friend who has a really large amount of snakes, spiders and animals I would never want in my home.

So this friend introduced him to one of the snakes. At times he was so afraid he was shaking. But by the time we fetched him he and this snake had become pals. So I let him have it. It was something to remind him that he tamed his fear so to speak.

Anyway, so slither sheds it skin and grows again and the cycle continues again and again.

Why don’t we throw off the things that keep us from Christ. The skin that stops us from growth.

Scripture tells us to throw off the old self Ephesians Ephesians (amplified bible) 4:22  Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old unrenewed self] which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion; 23  And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude], 24  And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness. 25  Therefore, rejecting all falsity and being done now with it, let everyone express the truth with his neighbor, for we are all parts of one body and members one of another.

Why not lose your old self like that skin. And keep growing in the word. Losing more skin as you grow building your faith in God, learning more of Him and becoming one with Him.

My prayer for you today is to shed that skin you’ve been tagging along and to be made new in Christ.

With love always
