Have you ever wondered what to do in a situation that you yourself didn’t have an answer for? Have you ever asked God for an answer? Well if you haven’t, you should!! And guess what? When you do He gives us answers but we don’t always notice it.
He still answers us in so many ways. All you have to do is sit up and take note.
Today I’m going to share a few of those moments with you that I’ve had in my life…
I went on a weekend of silence to hear God speak to me more clearly. I met some amazing girlfriends while I was there. We all prayed together but in silence. Read bible together but apart. Worshipped together in silence and found God in those moments.
I wanted a deeper relationship with Him. My heart longed. At a time in my life when I questioned if God could love me because of the many times I have failed Him and myself, I would wonder if He still loved me. Well, this specific weekend I felt unloved, like being there was a mistake, like I was in the way. But God had other plans.
While I was sitting on the balcony against the wall, writing in my journal I asked God if He loved me. When I looked up one of the bricks in the wall had a heart on it. I smiled and knew that was His heart. Over that weekend I noticed many hearts, in the shapes of flowers, leaves stones and more. It was a wonderful experience. He showed me that He loved me after all.
Then at another time in my life I was angry at my husband. I can’t even remember why I was mad, but clearly remember that I felt this urgency to pray for him. But I told God that I was angry at him and didn’t want to pray for him. I even came up with a lame excuse that I dint know how to pray for him. Then the next day while checking my e-mails I got one that started with HOW TO PRAY FOR YOUR HUSBAND. Okay I just sat, speechless and knew it was another sign. So, I prayed right on that very spot and I felt a peace in my heart. Prayer changes people and situations!!
Philippians 2:6-8 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death – even death to the cross.
I want to be more like that. More like Jesus. Following in His footsteps.
And then last night. I was angry again. Not wanting to give in. I felt I was right and didn’t want to back down. I have to admit that I wasn’t showing a godly character at all. And then again I realise that I have to be humble.
God gave me a verse before going to bed.
Matthew 25:4040″The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
And then this morning when I opened my diary it said:
*Don’t let your reactions cause chaos in your life.
*Give others the benefit of the doubt and cultivate a generous spirit.
*Nurture your love and truth and let it determine your emotional guidelines.
Oh, how he speaks to us. All we have to do is listen, closely, pay attention. People sending you an sms, an e-mail, newspaper article and other things. Why don’t you just STOP, take note. His answers are out there, everywhere.
And if you don’t find them, or don’t notice them, go to His word. It is full of answers to the difficult questions in life. But you need to open it and read it or it wouldn’t help a single bit.
Whatever situation you are facing today, remind yourself that God loves you. And he will answer your questions. All you have to do is sit up and take note.
With love always
